Food Analysis Performance Assessment Scheme (FAPAS) was
established by the UK Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries
and Food (MAFF) in 1990 and is now regarded as the premier
international scheme of its type. The scheme involves
analysis of real food samples for a wide range of analyte's.
Minerva participates in numerous rounds of the Food Analysis Performance Assessment Scheme (FAPAS) as an essential element of our laboratory quality assurance programme. Of particular interest are those orientated towards antibiotics and mycotoxins.
GLOBAL PROFICIENCY - NEW ZEALAND
This organisation organises collaborative studies on manuka honey for Non Peroxide Activity (NPA) and Methyl Glyoxal analysis (MGO).
To date two separate collaborative studies have been organised and reported. Minerva participated in both studies.
FOOD ANALYSIS USING ISOTOPIC TECHNIQUES PROFICIENCY TESTING
This scheme (known as FIT-PTS) is organised by one of Europe’s largest Contract laboratories. FAPAS does not cover all elements of proficiency testing relating to food. Minerva participates in this scheme for its Isotopic Ratio procedures, which assesses potential adulteration of honey.
